Isaiah 40:31 is one of my favorite verses. Its association of God-provided strength with the power of eagles’ wings is a beautiful comparison which has reassured believers for centuries.

This key verse applies to this song as well as the first LWCP song, The Lord Will Give Me Wings. The methodology of the clue is slightly different, though: “strong” is the meaning of “Brian.”

Yes, the initial key signature is F# major! This clearly was something which God set up in the score, because it turns out that Eagle Wings just doesn’t sound right in F major or G major. We know; we’ve tried – and definitely prefer the written key.

When life becomes an uphill struggle I lean on You,
I need Your help to stand, I need Your guiding hand,
When my determination falters I turn to You,
I need you to give the strength to bring You glory.

Oh, Lord, give me strength like eagle wings,
Let me ride the winds and soar into Your presence,
Oh, Lord, give me strength like eagle wings,
That I might be true to You forevermore.

When trials assault my faith I put my trust in You,
I follow You, my light, and conquer through Your might,
When ever perseverance weakens I cling to You,
I need You to give the strength to bring You glory.

Cause me to soar above the clouds
of the storm which tries to hide Your face,
Give me eyes that look above
And hold me close in Your embrace.
