Church Calendar: Holy Week, Good Friday, Easter

Sometimes the pressure’s off, and sometimes it’s on… we were planning a Gospel Music Night at Valley Church, and two weeks before the date I was asked to assemble a men’s quartet. Then came the minor difficulty of choosing repertoire. We ended up singing Power In The Blood and this arrangement of the hymn “At Calvary”, which arrived on paper after a couple of hours of late-night work (not a trivial effort when you have to get up for work at 4:30 the next morning…).

Years I spent in vanity and pride,
Caring not my Lord was crucified,
Knowing not it was for me He died
at Calvary!

Mercy there was great and grace was free,
Pardon there was multiplied to me,
There my burdened soul found liberty
at Calvary!

By God’s Word at last my sin I learned,
Then I trembled at the law I’d spurned,
Till my guilty soul, imploring, turned
to Calvary!

Now I’ve given to Jesus everything,
Now I gladly own Him as my King,
Now my raptured soul can only sing
of Calvary!

O the love that drew salvation’s plan!
O the grace that brought it down to man!
O the mighty gulf that God did span
at Calvary!

Just wanted more info on “At Calvary” to confirm that it is TTBB and what accompaniment comes with – keyboards, a capella etc? Thank you.

    Hi Arnold,

Thanks for asking. “At Calvary” is TTBB, a cappella. And it’s fun to sing!

    Blessings,
    Larry
