Return to Handbell – Full Choir

Home at Last (Handbells, 5 to 8 octaves, Level 4+)

I’ve written a number of choral pieces for Living Water, my choir at Valley Church of Cupertino, California, and looked through them to see whether any could be arranged for handbells. Home at Last, the fifty-fourth in the set, is about the blessed hope that Christians have in the promise that Jesus Christ will one day return to take us to a new heaven and a new earth, a new life, and a new eternity future.

The original choral version is also available from Choraegus, and the choral version can be combined with the handbell arrangement.

I’m called to be a sojourner
Through the grace of Christ, my Savior,
For a short while, this world’s my dwelling place.
I have great anticipation
Of a heavenly destination
Where I’ll see my Jesus face to face.
I will hope in my God, I will trust in Him,
For one day I’ll be…

Home! Home at last!
Forever with my Savior,
Forever with my Lord,
Home! Home at last!
When life on earth is over, I’ll be home at last.

While I’m living on this earth
In the promise of the second birth
I’ll enjoy fellowship warm and bright,
Then one day we’ll soar through the skies
To join the saints in paradise
And the heavenly family will reunite.
I will hope in my God, I will trust in Him,
For one day I’ll be…

Home at last – life on earth is done and I’m home at last.
