Return to Eight-Bell Hymns (General)

At the Cross (HUDSON)

Isaac Watts wrote At the Cross about three centuries ago, and it still is a relevant statement of the Christian faith. This hymn is a reflection on Cbrist’s sacrifice for us.

Alas, and did my Savior bleed
And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For such a worm as I?

At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight
And now I am happy all the day.

I am looking for some Easter songs in C major for 8 color coded handbells. It is hard to find. Please let me know what you might have.

    Hi Judy,

We have a solution that might work for you. You can transpose our eight-bell scores in G major to the bells you have (see the last paragraph of our When You Don’t Have All the Bells in the Score page). The idea is to pretend that the bells you have are the ones in the score.

Here are some eight-bell pieces that might work. You can also search through our music by searching for “G major”).

Hope this helps – happy ringing!
    Larry
