CaliforniaMy relationship with Park Boulevard Presbyterian Church goes all the way back to the Seventies when I had friends who went there. Martin and Melissa Holdrich were school friends, and I had the joy and privilege of watching them do some growing as they started their Christian lives.
Enter the Mount Hermon Music Conference. The first year I was there, I met Barb (then) Chaffin. She and I share a remarkably common level of insanity, and so have been good friends ever since. The next summer, John Elving was my roommate at Mount Hermon. So... I got to know both of them - and then, through no agency of my own, they got married.
John and Barb were at a church in Sacramento a few years later, and we kept in contact as they continued to serve there. Some personally historic cycles closed when John took the music minister's position at Park Boulevard Pres. Since then, the church has been looking forward to serving God even more than before, and I'm hoping that the Lord grants them tremendous growth!
John and I talked about having Living Water sing at PBPC early in 1998, and settled on the first Sunday in August. It was a wonderful concert - you should have been there!
